The Sunshine Skyway Bridge, I-275, across Tampa Bay connecting St. Petersburg
and Bradenton was the first bridge in the Western Hemisphere to use two
single pylons holding a single plane of stays to support the span.

Length: 29,040ft. = 5.5 miles = approx.8.85km

Construction: 1982 - February 7. 1987

Opened to traffic: April 20, 1987

Cost: $244  million

Constructed of: Steel and Concrete

Support: 21 Steel Cables clad in nine inch steel tubes along the center line of the bridge.
